Abstract

Aim: The objective of this study was to analyse anthropometric characteristics (height, body mass, body mass index and body fat) and physical fi tness (acceleration, vertical jump and endurance capacity) in soccer referees and to examine whether there is a relationship among these variables. Method: Forty-fi ve soccer referees (2ndA, 2ndB or 3. divisions) participated in this study. Results: Their results in 5 and 15 m sprint were 0.96 ± 0.08 s and 2.35 ± 0.14 s, respectively. In their jump capacity for the squat jump was observed to be 39.02 ± 6.26 cm and 45.71 ± 7.44 cm for the countermovement jump (CMJ). With regard to cardiovascular capacity estimated average maximum oxygen consumption (V02max) was 56.23 ± 3.20 ml•kg-1•min-1. Signifi cant correlations (r = -0.704) were found between the values recorded for the CMJ and acceleration time in 15 m. Different variables of cardiovascular capacity showed signifi cant inverse correlations with the body mass index. Conclusion: Soccer referees have similar values of acceleration, vertical jump and aerobic capacity of soccer players referees in different categories.
