Abstract

Inherited metabolic liver diseases are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by an impairment of liver function secondary to a genetic or hereditary biochemical disorder. On their clinical course, these disorders may produce an irreversible liver damage and eventually cirrhosis. Many of them are considered paediatric diseases while others appears in the adulthood. In this clinical update hereditary hemochromatosis, Wilsons disease and alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency will be reviewed.
