Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the internal load and intensity of training sessions and matches of WB players. Twelve WB players (32 ± 9 years) from a Spanish first division team participated in this study. The internal load was analyzed by objective (Edward and TRIMPMOD) and subjective (RPE TL) methods, moreover, the intensity of training sessions and matches were analyzed by the percentage of time spent in each intensity zone. There were no significant differences in relation to the objective internal load between training and matches but the players perceive less effort during games. However, during matches they spent more percentage of the time in high and maximum intensities. Although the objective internal load was similar for training sessions and matches, the percentage of the time spent in each intensity zone showed that the matches were more intense.
