Abstract

In mid-October 2021, the XVII Congress of the Spanish Pain Society was held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao. For the first time, a face-to-face session was held in which the subject of medical cannabis for pain treatment was discussed. In the first place, there was an exhibition on the functioning of the cannabinoid system in general, and more specifically, during chronic pain, carried out by Dr. Pedro Grandes, professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology at the UPV / EHU and president of the Spanish Society for Research on Cannabinoids (SEIC).Next, the operation of the Israeli model for the treatment of chronic pain with medicinal cannabis was presented by Dr. Jesús de Santiago, coordinator of the cannabinoid interest group of the Spanish Pain Society and, finally, its comparison with the situation current in Spain by Dª Carola Pérez, president of the Spanish Observatory of Medicinal Cannabis and the Dosmociones Association.
