Résumé

In the last years there is a growing relationship between uric acid and cardiovascular diseases and chronic kidney disease. There are several epidemiologic studies that find out an association between uric acid and the future developing of chronic kidney disease, higher rate of loss of kidney function, higher blood pressure, cardiovascular events, and mortality (total and cardiovascular). The etiopathogenic mechanism could be due to endothelial damage. The treatment of hyperuricemic patients with allopurinol could have positive effects. Although there are not great studies yet, there are some papers with good results in the reduction of loss of renal function, reducing blood pressure and cardiovascular events.
