Résumé

One the applications of therapeutic soft contact lenses (TSCL) is the reduction of trauma derived from abnormalities in the eyelids of aberrations in the eyeslashes. Ussaly the TSCL would only be a part of the therapeutic process. We have used TSCL as aids in the treatment of 8 patients with pathology of the edge of the eyelid: 4 with trichiasis, 2 with distichiasis and 2 with cicatricial entropion. Of these patients 4 were tretaed concommitantly with an argon laser (trichiasis and distichiasis) and 2 with surgical reconstruction (1 with a resection of a basocellular carcinoma and 1 with lash resection). The TSCL were the only treatment multiple in 2 cases of cicatricial entropion subjected to surgery. The TSCL have reduced the secondary truma to the pathology of the edge of the eyelid. They have also made it possible the cure the underlying ocular surface and have improved the symptoms (pain, weeping and photophobia) in the aforementioned patients. Although the initial tretament should be directed towards the underlying cause, tghis is not always possible and meanwhile TSCL's could be useful in these situations.
