Abstract
A study of the involvement of women in Spain’s fi rst paediatric conventions has revealed the presence of a number of representative feminist women at these gatherings. Three of them had ties to San Sebastian: Benita Asas was born in the city, Matilde Huici, spent her childhood and teenage years there, while San Sebastian made a great impression on Clara Campoamor. These three feminists played an important and active role in support of childcare and the championing of children’s rights.
