Resumen

In recent years there has been an increased demand for assisted reproductive services due to delayed childbearing, and this has increased the prematurity rate. The survival of premature babies has improved but the capacity of intervention has increased the incidence of side effects and long term complications, raising social and emotional costs to the family. There are many studies that consider the parents subjective experience who go through the hospitalization of these infants, and much less given to have to get to assisted reproduction professionals. Objective: describe how families cope with the birth of a premature child. Methodology: a descriptive qualitative research using phenomenological data. The use of triangulation process will be used for data collection: in-depth individual interviews recorded by three health professionals who will be part of the research team, and group interviews, separating parents who conceived naturally and those who used assisted reproductive techniques. Study subjects were collected in the Intensive Care Baby Unit in Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital, in Huelva.
