Zusammenfassung
Very little is known about Pío Baroja’s medical-scientifi c work. He became interested in the study of physiology during his studies. Proof of this can be seen in his doctoral thesis: Study on pain, which contained the main experimental studies on the subject. When his resources to continue along this line, he began to specialise in rural medicine. He would later go onto to study the analysis of the experiences of doctors and patients, which would lead to his literary activity.
