Resumen

Nickel-ceria-yttria stabilized zirconia (Ni-CYSZ) cermet materialwas synthesized and tested as anode for direct oxidation of methane in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) using YSZ as electrolyte and LSM as cathode. Long term test was conducted under 180 mA·cm-2in dry CH4 for 785 h at 850ºC in order to assess the cell electrochemical behaviour. IV curves and impedance spectra weremeasured at different times. After testing, a post material analysis was performed by SEM-EDS. After 90 h of test, the power density of cell showed a small degradation, but without cell collapse when the operation is finished at 785 h. Small carbon deposits were detected, mostly, on anode nickel surface.
