Abstract

Objective: To describe the introduction of community nurse supervisors in the Mental Health Network of Biscay. Methods: Considering the geographical area, a document was produced detailing functions, activities and skills for the new role, including the Basque strategies for chronicity and mental health. We planned the supervisors' deployment and personalised team coordination and communication training. Results: The supervisory roles have been developed in the following areas was developed to establish a system of uniform and quality work for all members, identify and solve problems and use of nursing methods among others. Conclusions: Supervision is necessary to ensure high-quality safe care. In our area, it has fostered the development of research and training, supporting good management of care, resources and personnel and the implementation of regional health strategies.
