Resumen
Little is known about the relationship between overweight or obesity and restrictive eating disorders. This systematic review aimed to analyse their prevalence, symptomatology, development and clinical characteristics ofthese cases. Based on the PRISMA guidelines, we reviewed 18 articles. According to the results, among people with a restrictive eating disorder, a history of overweight or obesity is more common in men than women. Jn addition, a history of overweight or obesity is more common in people with atypical anorexia nervosa than in people with anorexia nervosa. People with atypical anorexia nervosa are identified with a higher weight, but their symptomatology, amenorrhoea and sequelae are no less severe than in those who have never been overweight or obese. The results underline the importance of considering weight history in identifying eating disorders.
