Abstract

The aim of this work is to compare the waiting time and the average of stay of patients with minor pathologies who have seen in the emergency ward nursing of the Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital and in the emergency room services of the Txagorritxu Hospital. This is an experimental multicenter study, in which the patient had been recruited from the emergency department of both hospitals. Participants have been seen at the emergency room of both hospitals and they suffered minor heath problems. These problems were included in protocols which allowed nurses recruited 140 patients for each group; all of them reached the criteria of inclusion. The sample was divided in two groups: 1. Case group: People with minor health problems supported by protocols, who meet the inclusion criteria. These protocols allow nurses as to finish as to be responsible for the process and the solutions of the minor or non-urgent sickness / illness in the GaldakaoUsansolo´s Hospital. 2. Reference group: People with the same minor health problems and criteria for inclusion as the case group. The doctor is responsible for either the first visit or the discharge a patient. Afterwards he decides to referral to nurse in order to provide a treatment in the Txagorritxu Hospital.
